John Wentz

John Wentz is a contemporary painter who explores the human figure and its nature in his work. He experiments with a combination of classic and modern painting techniques, with the aim of reducing and simplifying what is shown to its most important basics: composition, color and texture. As only painting can do.
John was born and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. His interest in art began at the age of 6 when he first discovered Batman and Spiderman’s comics. As a teenager he copied them picture by picture for many years, laying the foundations early on to later work as a wall painter, poster artist and freelance illustrator. After he had perfected painting with the spray can, he decided to turn to the fine arts and work with classic painting techniques such as oil. Since then, John has exhibited his work in three solo shows in San Francisco and in many group shows at home and abroad. His work has been published in numerous publications and has received multiple awards.
