Düsseldorf has its rough edges, and that is exactly what gives the city its character. Away from the Königsallee and the Rhine promenade, it reveals faces that many people pass by without a second glance.
50 Districts, Countless Traces
For the photo exhibition Düsseldorf: Mit Ecken und Kanten ("With Corners and Edges"), photographer Rouven Maccario set out on a journey through all 50 of the city's districts. His images document interesting and sometimes unseen faces of the city. Again and again, signs of graffiti appear along the way: stickers, tags and throw-ups, and a little urban art too.
Traces That Shape the City
These traces are sometimes the subject of controversial public debate. Yet they have become an almost inseparable part of public space, and they shape the city as a place to live.
A Shirt for Düsseldorf
The exhibition is presented by Fortuna Düsseldorf and accompanies the launch of the club's new third kit for the 2020/21 season. The shirt, too, pays tribute to the city: the pattern on the sleeves and shoulders takes up the outlines of the 50 districts, and the words "Mit Ecken und Kanten" are worked into the collar. Following the exhibition Aufstiegshelden, this is already our second collaboration with Fortuna. During the summer break, we are showing the photographs in the gallery as a short intermezzo.
